Sudan's basketball close to causing a major upset against
a United States team made up of NBA superstars on Saturday, but lost 101-100 in
an Olympics warm-up game in London. LeBron James, the all-time NBA scoring
leader at 39 years old, scored a game-high of 25 points, including the deciding
points with a driving layup eight seconds before the end at the O2 Arena. South
Sudan led 58-44 at half-time and took a late lead after an 8- scoring run. It
seemed like they were going to cause one of international basketball's greatest
shocks before James saved the day.
US coach Steve on the game saying: "The ending was
good for us -- just to feel that to feel what it's going to feel like
Paris." He added: "Good experience for. Good reminder that when we
play against teams, it's the biggest experience of their lives and we have to
expect everyone to play like that."
J.T. Thor from South Sudan made a three-pointer 20
seconds remaining putting team into a lead of 100-99. But then LeBron James
made the winning shot and secured victory USA in this highly contested match.
Kerr admitted: "I did not do a great job of
preparing my team... Once we turned it up in the second half, they had already
knocked down a bunch of threes and were feeling really good about
themselves."
James sparked an impressive US run from late in the third
quarter early fourth quarter leading them towards victory.
Bron further added: "We have maybe two together...
So every, film session, we get an opportunity... We have to try to make most
out of it."
Joel Embiid originally from Cameroon who recently US
citizen contributed significantly by adding 14 points and seven rebounds for
Americans.

points and eleven rebounds.
For South Sudan ranked as world’s number thirty-three
Marial Shayok played exceptionally well with twenty-four points while Jones
added fifteen points along with eleven rebounds and eleven assists. Thor
contributed fourteen points off bench.
Shayok professional basketball in China while Jones is
associated with power Partizan professionally.
